Is Google Making Us Stupid?

In Nicolas Carr's article, "Is google making us stupid?" he gives examples of how the Internet is changing. But is it really changing for the worse? I personally don't really think so, sure we as a population are finding easier ways to get to public information, but that does not mean that it is allowing us to just stop using our brains all together.

In the past we have not had the ability to use such advanced machines, but since the technology is there, why not use it? In the article Carr explains that it is changing people's way of reading with the fast paced technology we have today. We like reading, short and quick to the point readings, but that doesn't mean that everyone is going to only read that type of articles. If a person wants to read something they are interested in, or something that they really really don't want to but are being forced by their teachers, they will read it. no matter if its for the sake of their grade, or for their own interest. Of course if you re not interested too much in the topic and are just told to read it, you are not going to read it wanting to know every detail, you re going to read it to just get the gist. & if you're reading the most boring article ever, of course you're going to lose focus while reading it.

I think it just has everything to do with your own personal interest or how much of a priority the reading is. If you need to read it for a class, you are going to actually read it and try to understand it. If you're really interested in the topic a reading is on, you're going to be paying attention cause you want to follow what is going on. Its all a personal choice. If you want to do something, or if its for a grade, you will most likely do it.
